Long ago, in times older than anything old, two knights of legendary appetite and questionable judgment set out to save the world from the forces of darkness — mostly because there was nothing better to do after a three-day banquet.

Junker’s and Vailiant are bold as brazen badgers, sturdy as surly bears, and almost entirely unfazed by dragons (which do not exist), evil warlords returned from the dead, or lustful priestesses of dark cults with impeccable fashion sense. Accompanied by a retinue of fierce warrior women, a wizard who keeps accidentally falling into the wrong century, and a gossiping spy with a large nose and excellent curves, the two heroes ride headlong into an age of darkness — and cheerfully drink their way through it.

Their enemies, the mad tyrant Jamasa and his enchantingly scheming concubine, have grand ambitions and terrible plans. Unfortunately for the world, they also have taste in dress and suspiciously refreshing well water.

A riotously funny heroic fantasy in the great tradition of sword-and-sorcery adventure — where the mead flows freely, the monsters are negotiable, and the warm water debate never quite gets resolved.
